Research Diving - Training |
|||
The training for this branch of the diving world comes firstly in the form of a university education in the chosen field of research. They subsequently become qualified scuba divers as a means to complete projects and missions rather than to enjoy the leisure aspect of diving. However some of the 'Scholar Divers' as they are often nicknamed are keen divers in their spare time! Research/Scientific divers are usually trained by the civilian dive organisations and occasionally by the commercial diving companies. An example of a dedicated scientific diving establishment is NOAA. NOAA have their own special rules and guidelines for their divers. Even the ranking / certification system differs somewhat to ordinary diving organisations.
