For diving in the Great Lakes your equipment configuration does not really to be adjusted too much. Remember that you're diving in fresh water, meaning that you won't need as much dive weight on your belt or BCD.

For diving the waters of the great lakes you must ensure you're thermally insulated. A thick semi-dry should be considered the minimum for warmth. A dry suit is recommended for scuba diving in the great lakes, this is because in the fresh water the temperatures often get a lot lower than in sea water.

Ensure before you set out from any of the Great Lakes Ports that you're prepared and ready for the dive ahead. Ensure that the boat skipper is taking you to the correct dive site and the weather conditions for the coming 12 hours are favourable.
