Although not a vast ocean like the Atlantic or Pacific the Mediterranean Sea has some significant areas of depth. The pink areas of the chart show continental shelves, here the diving is in the shallows. Italy, Malta, Croatia, parts of Spain and the Greek Islands are all good for shallows diving. The Island of Cyprus and Gibralter peninsular have deep sea depths nearby. Turkey also has deep sea areas in the med. and the Black Sea. The Greek archipelago zone is a shallow region also.
