The River Nile

Egypt River

Sharm El Sheikh

The River Nile is the worlds largest river, starting in the headwaters of Lake Victoria (along with Lake Tana in Ethiopia) it flows through Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan and then Egypt. Vital to the early civilisations the river is indeed a source of fertility and growth.

Several catapracts (small islands, shallow water and rocks) prevent easy, continous boat passage for the Niles entirety.

The Nile takes it's name from Nelios - the Greek word for river
