Established in 1986. Often seen as PADI's answer to technical diving. To all intents and purposes DSAT is an independant body, although it is affiliated with PADI.

Starting as a Research and Development affiliate it made a breakthrough in dive planning with the RDP (Recreational Dive Planner) allowing millions to plan dives easily, it says much for DSAT that the RDP is still in widespread use today. Combining the proven strengths of the PADI structure with the serious business of technical diving the DSAT Organisation is held in high regard and enjoys significant success.
