Lake Superior |
Shipwrecks are accessible to divers at five underwater preserves in Lake Superior: Whitefish Point, Alger, Marquette and Keweenaw Underwater Preserves, The Straits of Mackinac (which joins with Lake Huron). There are also a large number of wrecks located just off the shores of Minnesota.
Like the other Great Lakes, the authorities around Lake Superior have a very good policy of looking after the shipwrecks by using Underwater Preserves. Local dive clubs respect the wrecks and hope that future generations of divers will enjoy visiting the wrecks also. |
