THE Eber Ward

Shipwreck - The Eber Ward

The Story so far:

The prop-driven vessel was contructed back in 1888 by F. Wheeler, W. Bay City. and measured 213x37x22 (Ft) and weighted over 1300 tons (US). Built as a bulk freighter she was converted to be a self-unloader in 1957.

On Apr 9 1909 she struck ice and sank in less than 10 minutes. The survivors were picked up by the steamer BENNINGTON. Member of Boland Fleet. The wreck located by divers in 1980.

Depth: 130 - 140 ft (40 - 45 meters)

Visibility: 10 - 15 ft (3.5 - 5 meters)
